About Beli

Beli is a small historical town in the middle of the Tramuntana forest on the northern part of the island of Cres. The town is charmly situated on the top of a 130 m hill.

Beli has been inhabited for over 2000 years. Below the town is a small fishing port with a beautiful pebble beach and small stone houses.

To reach Beli, you need to follow the narrow 8 km road that leads off the main island road. You will pass by the giant oaks, see the sheep wondering around freely. The surroundings are dominated by the mysterious labyrinths, Keltic tombs and Roman ruins, proud griffon vultures circling the skies and dolphins play in the blue sea.

Events

Although there are not many people living in Beli, the locals are very lively and cheerful people that love their town and Tramuntana.

The town springs to life during summer and other holidays when families, friends and regular guests return to for vacation.

Interesting to see

Tramuntana region has 20 small churches in ruins and 5 restored churces, some of them are gothic.
Above the pansion is a trail – Crossway with 14 stations – that leads towards the Calvary with a beautiful view of the Kvarner Bay and Beli.
A statue of Black Madonna is kept in Beli parish church which is unique and rare because there are only 4 statues of this kind in Croatia.
